Some Interesting Facts about CSA's.

What is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA may also be referred to as a Farm Share. A Farm Share is a contract between a farmer and private individuals. This is where the farmer sells shares at the beginning of the planting season, which helps with initial costs. The farmer then delivers “shares” to individuals or group drop-off points throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
Advantages for consumers are eating high quality, fresh food grown locally by regional farmers; getting exposure to new vegetables and new ways of cooking; visiting the farm at least once per season; and developing a relationship with the farmer who grows the food.
Advantages for farmers are receiving payment early in the season; spending time marketing the food early in the year; and getting the opportunity to get to know community members.
